Few cars have had as rapturous a reception as the Mk3 Mondeo, which was launched towards the end of the year 2000. Ford鈥檚 fleet favourite had big shoes to fill, with the Mk1 Mondeo and the Mk2 (effectively a Mk1 facelift) still being hailed as the finest handling mid-size hatch and saloon on the market, despite being seven years old.
The Ford Mondeo Mk3 (second generation) model was launched by Ford in October 2000. This Mondeo was considerably larger than its predecessor, and although Ford abandoned its New Edge design theme for the second generation, it was their first vehicle to fully benefit from the Prodigy concept car.

The diesel engines in the Ford Mondeo Mk3 are Ford鈥檚 own designs (unlike the TDCi in the Focus Mk2). The TDDi and the TDCi are pretty much the same engine, except for different injection systems and turbochargers. The TDCi is a Common Rail engine, and the things that could go wrong with it are the same as for all other modern diesel engines.
the focus 1.6 and 2.0 tdci are peugeot which volvo use too. the 1.8 tdci is ford. the mondeo tdci mk3 is ford and is used in transit 2000> too. theres TDCi and TDDi variants and thay all range from 85ps up to 130ps on the 2.0 and the 2.2 tdci mondeo is 155ps. Mark
