Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM (Black) at Amazon for $1,379.99; Key features Quite expensive; $1,799 though that’s cheaper than the Canon 85mm f1.2 L. Gear Used We used the Zeiss 85mm f1.4 Milvus lens with the Canon 6D and an Impact 5-in-1 reflector. The Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L USM Lens is soft wide open, increasing in sharpness until very sharp at f/2.8. Corners are somewhat soft until stopped down some - becoming very sharp for a 24mm lens. Light fall-off is very noticeable at f/1.4, and, as usual, improves as the lens was stopped down. The 24 L exhibits noticeable amounts of CA.
The 50 f/1.8 is comparatively cheap, but a very old design with a loud STM and distracting OOF rendering. The RF 24-105 STM is one of the worst lenses at the 24mm end I have used in a long time, even stopped down. The fact that the 24mm f1.8 can barely squeak out a win is very disappointing.
We used Canon's 200mm ƒ/2.8L II USM telephoto lens to test the 1.4x III Extender, comparing the sharpness of the lens with and without the extender attached. Without the extender, the lens shows Compared to the EF 400 mm f/2.8 L IS III USM, we see that distortion in the shots with the Extender EF 1.4x III is slightly larger. The 400mm without Extender has a very light pincushion-shaped distortion. With the Extender EF 1.4x III, that becomes a slightly higher barrel-shaped distortion of around 0.8%.
From that time the line-up of universal Canon zooms as fast as near f/4.0 has been enlarged noticeably. We’ve seen launches of such devices as the Canon EF 24-70 mm f/4L IS USM and the cheaper Canon EF 24-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM.
If you are looking for a high-quality wide angle lens for your Canon SLR camera, you might want to check out the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM. This lens offers excellent performance, sharpness, and low-light capabilities. It is also compatible with full-frame and APS-C sensors. Find out more about this lens and its features on Amazon.com.
It goes without a doubt that the Zeiss 35mm f1.4 Milvus lens receives our Editor’s Choice award. Zeiss was ballsy enough to say that they wanted to create a lens for portraiture at a wide angle
